Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, remote workers are here to stay. The rise of remote workers will continue to increase even after the pandemic. Once the pandemic is over, companies are planning to be more flexible for employees to work from home because of productivity and time. Here are some of my top 5 tools I use while managing a small startup technology business. All of these tools are free of charge!
Trello is a free project management dashboard that allows you to easily collaborate with your team and manage daily tasks. This is personally my favorite tool to use because of its drag and drop user interface. It is very easy to use and straight forward. Learning how to use trello takes no effort!
This tool allows managers and leads assign tasks to their teams and keep track of the progress of each task assigned. You can also integrate 3rd party tools such as slack to notify managers when each task is being updated. There's also a due date field where you can check and see your progress.
Slack is a great chat communication platform to talk to your colleagues at free of costs! It is known as one of the most popular tools for startups these days. It has integrations with google calendar, jira, file sharing, and etc. You can also create bots for weekly annoucements and meetings. You can create channels and groups and talk to people in real time without setting up much anything.
Zoom is the best free video conferencing software and my favorite meeting There's video chats, messaging, scheduling, video recording, and screen sharing. I love using zoom especially for my client calls, it is so easy to use and it helps when you want to demo a product or just want to collaborate. It has streamlined our business processes and meetings.
Google Docs is a free file sharing collaboration tool to edit files together in real time. Changes and updates made in real time are automatically saved.
Notion is a free note taking app that allows you to manage your content and wiki pages. I usually use this for note taking, engineering wiki pages, and favorite links. I use notion when I want to organize my thoughts and create content.
